KYS organises Mahila Milan Shivir in Mumbai

With the theme “Renewal, Reassertion, Redemption” of Kshatriya values among Kshatranis and Kashtriya Balas (Rajput women and girl children), Shri Kshatriya Yuvak Sangh (KYS) organised “Mahila Milan Shivir” at Borivali in Mumbai on November 24 - 25, 2006.
Mahila Milan Shivir is a gathering of Kshatriya Yuvak Sangh (KYS) activists every year. Mumbai Shivir was third of its kind in the last two years. The prime objective of the Shivir is to discuss the present state of Rajput women and educate them on Rajput culture and traditions.
Ballads are sung about the courage of Rajput women, and yet today, girl children of poor Rajput families struggle for survival. Courage displayed by the Rajput women is much more than the bravery displayed by the Rajput warriors in the battle fields. They inspired them to lay their lives in the battle fields instead of wishing to enjoy the royal pleasures.
One of the things most misconstrued about Rajputs and Hinduism is that it’s a male-dominated society and religion. It is not. It is a culture whose only words for strength and power are feminine — “shakti” means “power” and “strength”. All male power comes from the feminine. In religious matters, Kshatriyas have elevated women to the level of divinity. The Trimurti (Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva) are all powerless without their female counterparts.
Kshatriya Yuvak Sangh is a nodal organisation working for the last 60 years to inculcate Kshatriya values among Rajput youths. KYS also operates Durga Mahila Vikas Sansthan (DMVS) to promote contemporary education and Rajput cultural standards among the Rajput Girls; especially girls from rural areas who cannot afford to go to cities for secondary education and higher studies due to lack of such facilities in rural areas and economic conditions of their families.
The hostel is located at Sikar, Rajasthan. DMVS has its own hostel comprising 18 rooms, one conference hall, prayer assembly hall, computer room and a big dining hall. Hostel has one vehicle for admin purpose.
Sri Ratan Singh ji Nangli (President, Durga Mahila Vikas Sansathan), Shri Ratan Singh ji Rathore, Shri Dilip Singh Sultana and Shri Neer Singh ji Singhana played instrumental role to make the Shivir a successful event. Efforts in the last few years for improving in KYS activity have started yielding fruits slowly.
The impressive turnout at the “Mahila Milan Shivir” has encouraged KYS to organise frequent meetings in Mumbai.
The participants also discussed problems and challenges faced by Rajputs and their possible solutions, efforts for Rajput unity and spreading of Kshatriya values among Rajput youths.
