NEW DELHI: Trial in the sensational murder case of bandit-turned-politician Phoolan Devi was today transferred to a fast track court by the
District Judge on the request of an accused.

The hearing in the matter, which was earlier being conducted by Additional Sessions Judge J R Aryan, would now be conducted by fast track court Additional Sessions Judge B K Garg.

District and Sessions Judge Mamta Sehgal transferred the murder case of Samajwadi Party MP Phoolan Devi on the application sent by accused Pradeep Singh from Tihar jail here.

In his application, Singh, one of the accused who is in jail since 2001 alongwith 10 other accused, including prime suspect Sher Singh Rana, had alleged the trial court had so far examined only 129 out of 220 witnesses in the case during the last seven years.

The matter is more than seven years old and be put for hearing in a Fast track court as mandated by a Delhi High Court order, he had pleaded.

Taking into consideration the plea of Singh, supported by other accused, the court had on January 6 issued a notice to the prosecution, which did not object to the request for the case being shifted to a fast track court during the proceedings today.

Rana along with 11 others had allegedly conspired and killed the bandit-turned-politician and Samajwadi Party MP to avenge the 1981 Behmai massacre, in which she had killed 17 people of the Thakur caste.

The assailants had dropped their weapons at the murder spot after killing Phoolan Devi outside her 44 Ashoka Road residence here on July 25, 2001.

Tributes were paid to Maharana Pratap Singh, the legendary Rajput hero of Mewar, at a function held to mark his 411th death anniversary at Sri Krishna Memorial Hall here.

PATNA : Tributes were paid to Maharana Pratap Singh, the legendary Rajput hero of Mewar, at a function held to mark his 411th death anniversary at Sri Krishna Memorial Hall here today.

The epitome of fiery Rajput pride and self-respect, Maharana’s bravery and determination made him a symbol of India’s indomitable spirit. The incident of Jauhar and Saka at Chittor made a deep impression on the heart of Pratap. He was full of hatred for tyrant Muslim king Akbar who indulged in the merciless killing.

Referring to caste based politics and affiliations in successive governments in Bihar, the members of the warrior race reiterated it was Maharana Pratap who would inspire youths.

The speakers also flayed the NDA government, led by Nitish Kumar, for furthering quota politics.

“The quota system is bad. It has to end somewhere as everybody is asking for it. If for whatever reasons it has to be implemented, it should be well distributed to cover all those who need them. Financial status and not cast should be the criteria. You can not deny opportunity to a student belonging to a Brahmin, Rajput or Kayasth family just because of his caste,” said Kunwar Ajit Singh.

“We (Kshatriyas) supported this government with all our might to end Lalu’s 15 year misrule and still support him on developmental issues. However, like Lalu, Nitish is also indulging in caste-based votebank politics. Lalu did it loudly. Nitish is doing it silently,” said Rana Shiladitya Singh of a Kaimur based Rajput organisation.

During the congregation of community members, under the banner of Akhil Bhartiya Kshatriya Mahasabha (ABKM), leaders cutting across party lines also protested against the “ill treatment” being meted out to Anand Mohan Singh, former MP of Sheohar, in Saharsa jail.

Lovely Anand is likely to be Congress’ candidate from Sheohar.

Former Minister Janardan Singh Sigriwal, former Home Minister and president of Congress in Maharashtra Kripashankar Singh, national president of ABKM Kunwar Harbans Singh and others vowed to support Anand and take his case to the Supreme Court where no CM could influence the verdict.

Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and senior Congress leader, Digvijay Singh addressed Anand Mohan’s wife, Lovely Anand, as ‘bahu’ and said, “I will do whatever is required to help Anand Mohan in getting justice.”

BJP spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP from Bihar Rajiv Pratap Rudy urged the Rajput youth to play constructive role and contribute in the State as well as country’s development.

The Mahasabha also expressed concern over growing terrorism and appealed to the countrymen to give a befitting reply to the terrorists.

Lokendra Singh Kalvi (Rajasthan), AS Chennaswami Raju (Andhra Pradesh), Mahendra Singh Jadeja (Gujarat) and others were some of the prominent community members from other states who attended the meet.

Built by the Chandela king Kedar Burman in the seventh century AD, the fort was a unique monument of its time and had no parallel in any other part of the country in terms of grandeur and artistry.

The Kalinjar fort is a treasure trove of monuments and sculptures. The history of this fort is turbulent, but the temples and structures within it reflect the artistic prowess of the Chandela dynasty. Built by the Chandela king Kedar Burman in the seventh century AD, the fort was a unique monument of its time and had no parallel in any other part of the country in terms of grandeur and artistry. It sits atop an almost impregnable 1000-foot-high hill, with cliffs on all sides.

Earlier, it was ruled by various Hindu dynasties and later on it went into the hands of Muslim rulers. But with the exception of the Chandela dynasty to which the credit for building this fort goes, none of the later rulers could hold it for long. It was in the hands of Daryan Singh when it fell to Colonel Martindell in 1812. The British retained it as a fortress, and it proved its value to them in 1857. The British East India Company forces inflicted a lot of damage to the structure and monuments of this fort.

The fort can be reached by ascending the stone steps cut out on the hillside. The fort can be reached through its various gates or darwazas, which punctuate its battlements. The fort has seven gates; the Alamgir Darwaza, Ganesh Dwar, Chauburji Darwaza, Buddha Bhadra Darwaza, Hanuman Dwar, Lal Darwaza and Bara Darwaza.

Legends of Kalinjar Fort

Kalinjar means ‘the destroyer of time’ in Sanskrit, an ancient Indian language. Kal is time, while jar is destruction. It is commonly believed that Lord Shiva had slain the god of time here. Since then the hill on which the Kalinjar fort stands is considered holy. This hill has been described in many Hindu scriptures and has a number of legends associated with it. The scriptures state that this holy place had four different names in the four yugas or time periods according to Hindu mythology.

In satyug or period of righteousness and truth, it was known as Kirtinagar (city of glory), in tretayug or the second time period, it was Madhyagarh, in dwaparyug or the third time period, when the Hindu the epic of Mahabharat unfolded, it was Singhalgarh (seat of the lion) and in kaliyuga or the present and last time period, it came to be known as Kalinjar.

Military Architecture

The Kalinjar fort is not only a good example of military architecture, but it also has a number of interesting temples within its precincts.

This fort, located atop a hill, was a stronghold of the Chandela rulers. It has strong battlements, which are interspersed with highly fortified gates. The strategic location of the Kalinjar fort on rocky terrain, combined with its defenses, gave it an awe-inspiring look.

The palaces and temples within this fort conform to the Hindu style of architecture, as do the cupolas or chhatris atop the buildings, traditional Hindu motifs on pillars and temples etc.

Important Monuments and Artifacts within the Fort

There are a number of interesting buildings within the precincts of the Kalinjar fort. Most of the grandeur and majesty one presently sees within this fort is due to the Chandela rulers’ creative imagination, their highly developed aesthetic sense, and their religious fervor.

The Chandelas were great devotees of Lord Shiva, but also showed keen interest in building temples of other deities. The Chandelas were great patrons of art and architecture and the temples within the Kalinjar fort are no exception.

Neelkanth Mandap

The Neelkanth Mahadev Temple located on the western side of the fort is an interesting structure. The front of this temple resembles a cave like opening. The main shrine is scooped out of the rocky hillside, which can be entered through a pillared passage. This temple has an imposing 4.6 feet shivalinga (phallic representation of Lord Shiva) within the cave.

Close to the shivalinga cave stand the idols of Bhairav and goddess Parvati (consort of Lord Shiva) made of black stone. One can see a number of images of gods and goddesses and intricately decorated pillars strewn all over within the Kalinjar fort. The vagaries of nature and man have taken their toll but the remnants indicate a synthesis of several ancient cultures and faiths.

The palace of the Chandela prince Aman Singh is strewn with sculptures depicting different gods and goddesses. These sculptures are either made of granite or sandstone. Although most of these images are broken, the rich carvings on them attract one towards them.

There are a number of Trimurti images depicting the faces of the three principle Hindu gods-Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva-in a composite form. The presence of images of Mahavir (one of the principle deities of Jain religion), and Kamdev (Hindu God of Love) among others, speak of influences from diverse cultures and religious streams. The above-mentioned aspect also leads to the conclusion that the Chandela architecture was not the achievement of artistes from one particular region.

Another interesting structure within the boundary of this fort is the Venkat Bihari Temple. Though the interior of this temple is in an advance stage of decay, it presents a majestic look from the outside. The hemispheric dome over this temple gives it a odd outlook as domes are generally not used in the traditional Hindu style of temple architecture. There are a number of water tanks or kunds in the fort like the Sita-kund, the Pandu-kund, and the Patal-Kund etc. which are indicative of the Chandela’s taste for aquatic resorts and their architectural skills of having such structures built on such high altitudes.

The Ranthambhore fort is believed to have been built in 944 A.D. by a Chauhan ruler. It is strategically located on the border of Rajasthan and erstwhile Malwa.

The Ranthambore Fort is situated in the lush greenery of the Ranthambore National Park atop a hill. The name Ranthambore draws from the name of the hills - Thanbhore is the hill on which the fort is situated and Ran is the nearby hill.

For tourists visiting the Ranthambore Fort, it is advisable to keep enough time on hand. It is partly because of the reason that there is no pathway approaching the fort which means that visitors need to climb up the stairs of the hill to reach it (around 20 minutes walk). Also, the fort has so much to offer in terms of attractions that time will fly out without even giving a slightest of clue of its passage.

The other plus point of the fort is that its location in midst of the wildlife sanctuary ensures that there is neither any entry fee nor any over anxious guide to trouble the visitors.

The attractions of Ranthambore Fort caters to the varying interests of the tourists. For those who love history, the fort has unending stories to narrate while for people with religious bent of mind, there are numerous big and small temples. Lastly, those visitors who are interested in neither of the above attraction, there is the breathtaking view of the Ranthambore National Park. Animals rambling lazily to drink water from the lake arouse an entirely different kind of feeling in the visitors.

History of the Fort:

The Ranthambhore fort is believed to have been built in 944 A.D. by a Chauhan ruler. It is strategically located on the border of Rajasthan and erstwhile Malwa. The Undulating topography of the surrounding forests was used as an outer defense to the advantage of the fort. It was one of the strongest forts of Northern India.

In medieval India, Ranthambhore was an important Kingdom in the eyes of the Sultans of Delhi because it guarded the passage to Central India. Muslim invasions brought about major political changes in North India.

In Rajasthan Chauhan kingdoms of Sapadalaksha and Nadol disappeared. Govinda, Grandson of Prithviraj Chauhan established himself at Ranthambhore and ruled as a feudatory of the Sultan of Delhi. However relations between Delhi and Ranthambhore changed when Fitutmish deceitfully got Virnarayan the ruler of Ranthambhore assassinated and occupied Ranthambhore. Virnarayan uncle Vagbhat escaped to Malwa and ultimately founded a small Kingdom for himself bordering Ranthambhore. In the wake of disturbances after the death of Iltutmish, Vagbhat attacked Ranthambhore with a small army. He surrounded the fort and ultimately Rajia Sultan, the ruler of Delhi could barely get the starving garrison out of the fort.

Vagbhat ruled Ranthambhore continuously for 12 years struggling with the sultan of Delhi. The internal quarrels within the sultans and the Mughal invasion left the Sultan with little time to check the growing powers of Vaghbhat. Vaghbhat built a beautiful temple at Jhain and beautified Ranthambhore.

Vagbhat was succeeded by Jaitra Singh who continued the struggle against Delhi and Malwa. In 1253 Balban attacked Ranthambhore but could only capture some horses and had to leave.

Hammir succeeded Jaitra Singh in 1283 A.D and launched a career carrying out raids into Malwa and Gujarat. He defeated the ruler of Chittor and received tribute from the ruler of Abu. His power also reached Pushkar, Sakambhari and Champa.

In 1290 Jalaluddin Khilji attacked Ranthambhore but was repulsed.

In 1298 A.D Hammir gave refuge to Muhammed Shah, a rebel against Alauddin Khilji, the Sultan of Delhi. Allaudin’s general Ulugh Khan sent an envoy to Hammir demanding the death of Muhammed Shah but Hammir declined saying he could not harm anyone who had sought shelter with him even though the Turks might come from all directions. Allaudin Khilji ordered the fort to be besieged from all sides. Hammir fought valiantly. Ultimately Allauddin Khilji himself marched to Ranthambhore. In spite of all the strategies adopted by him the fort withstood. However soon the fort started feeling the pinch of the siege. Famine in the fort was acute. However Rao Hammir refused to compromise. At this stage treachery raised its heads in the form of Hammirs generals – Ratipal and Ranmal. Allauddin Khilji enticed Ratipal by promising him the Kingdom of Ranthambhore if he helped him in capturing the fort. Ultimately Hammir opted for the fight unto Death. Thousand of ladies in the fort performed “Jauhar” by jumping into fire and the men rushed out of the fort to fight unto death. Hammir and his loyal generals were killed in the battle and Khilji took over the fort in July 1301 A.D

Hammir was a bold loyal and self sacrificing ruler. His tenacity to stick to his words is legendary and till date he has a special place in the hearts of the people of this area.

Khilji made one of his generals in charge of the area and returned to Delhi. After Khilji the fort once again passed on to the Rajput rulers. When Babar came to India Ranthambhore was under the rule of Vikramjeet. Vikramjeet accepted Babar’s power and paid tribute.

Rana Kumbha captured the fort in the mid 15th century and later handed it over to his son after whom the Hada Rajputs of Bundi took over Ranthambhore once again before Akbar invaded and won it in 1569.

These and later wars must surely have ravaged the area. In the 19th century Ranthambhore became a prison fortress where they executed prisoners by hurling them down the fort walls after stuffing them with opium.

The fort then reverted to the Maharaja of Jaipur and the surrounding Jungle became private hunting grounds.

Today, overrun by vegetation the scattered remains of the chattris, summer palaces, and crumbling guard posts can still be seen – reminders of a historic past set within a Wild present.

Today the entrance to the area protects a treasure of greater value, one of the finest habitats in the world for the tiger.

Inside the Fort

One of the oldest forts in India, the Ranthambore Fort spreads over an area of 7 kms in circumference. Inside, a group of buildings like palaces, temples, mosques and barracks enthuse the visiting tourists.

The Hammir court is the prime attraction of the Ranthambore Fort. It boasts of an outstanding acoustics where even lightest of sound bit gets echoed in a marvellous way. The Ganesh Temple is not to be missed by the religious people. An interesting aspect about the temple relates that devotees write letters to Lord Ganesha and send it to this temple. These letters are delivered daily by the local postman.

The Gupt Ganga, a series of steps carved out of rock, leads visitors to a stream that continues to flow throughout the year. However, a bit of precaution needs to be taken before stepping down these stairs. First, some source of light has to be carried by the visitors and secondly, they need to be very careful while going down as the steps end almost suddenly.

Other attractions inside the Ranthambore Fort include Toran Dwar, Mahadeo Chhatri, Sameton Ki Haveli, 32 pillared Chhatri, and a Mosque.

How to get to Rantahmbore?

The reserve is located near the Town of Sawai Madhopur which lies on the Main Mumbai - Delhi railway Line. Therefore all train on this route will go through Sawai Madhopur. Once you get down at Sawai Madhopur you can easily take a auto rickshaw which is available in plenty outside the railway station and go to your respective hotels which lie mainly on the Ranthambhore road on the way to the Ranthambhore national park. The fare as on January 2008 is approximately Rs 50/- to Rs 60/- up to any hotel on the Ranthambhore road. For hotel further up the fare will be more. Please ask and finalise the rates before boarding the auto.

For groups it is better to hire a Canter [20 seat capacity] from the station to your hotel. The cost for which is approximately Rs 400/- to Rs 500/- for the full canter depending on how far your hotel is situated. The time taken to reach your hotel from the Railway station is between 5 to 15 minutes depending on your hotel location.

Nearest Railway Station : Sawai Madhopur

Nearest Airport : Jaipur - 190 kms from airport to Ranthambhore via Tonk.

Project Tiger office Tel No : 07462 - 220223

Distances by rail from: Jaipur 132 kms / Delhi 361 kms / Mumbai 1028 kms / Agra 227 kms. Sawai Madhopur is directly connected by rail to Mumbai / Delhi / Kolkata / Jaipur / Bangalore / Hyderabad / Chennai / Bhopal / Patna / Ahmedabad and many other towns in India.

Today Holi is an excuse for Indians to shed inhibitions for a day of spring fever and Big Fun. Teenagers spend the day flirting and misbehaving in the streets, adults extend the hand of peace, and everyone chases everyone else around, throwing bright colour and water over each other.

As the brief spring warms the landscape, northern India cuts loose for a day of hijinx and general hilarity. The festival of Holi is celebrated on the day after the full moon in early March every year.

Holi (Hindi: ????), or Phagwa (Bhojpuri), also called the Festival of Colours, is a popular Hindu spring festival observed in India and Nepal. It is known as Dolyatra (Doljatra) or Boshonto Utsav (”spring festival”) in Bengal.

Originally a festival to celebrate good harvests and fertility of the land, Holi is now a symbolic commemmoration of a legend from Hindu Mythology. The story centres around an arrogant king who resents his son Prahlada worshipping Lord Vishnu. He attempts to kill his son but fails each time. Finally, the king’s sister Holika who is said to be immune to burning, sits with the boy in a huge fire. However, the prince Prahlada emerges unscathed, while his aunt burns to death. Holi commemorates this event from mythology, and huge bonfires are burnt on the eve of Holi as its symbolic representation.

This exuberant festival is also associated with the immortal love of Krishna and Radha, and hence, Holi is spread over 16 days in Vrindavan as well as Mathura - the two cities with which Lord Krishna shared a deep affiliation. Apart from the usual fun with coloured powder and water, Holi is marked by vibrant processions which are accompanied by folk songs, dances and a general sense of abandoned vitality.

Today Holi is an excuse for Indians to shed inhibitions for a day of spring fever and Big Fun. Teenagers spend the day flirting and misbehaving in the streets, adults extend the hand of peace, and everyone chases everyone else around, throwing brightly colored powder (gulal) and water over each other.

The festival’s preamble begins on the night of the full moon. Bonfires are lit on street corners to cleanse the air of evil spirits and bad vibes, and to symbolize the destruction of the wicked Holika, for whom the festival was named. The following morning, the streets fill with people running, shouting, giggling and splashing. Marijuana-based bhang and thandai add to the uninhibited atmosphere.

Promptly at noon, the craziness comes to an end and everyone heads to either the river or the bathtub, then inside to relax the day away and partake of candies. In the afternoon an exhausted and contented silence falls over India. Although Holi is observed all over the north, it’s celebrated with special joy and zest at Mathura, Vrindavan, Nandgaon, and Barsna. These towns once housed the divine Krishna.

Each area celebrates Holi differently; the Bhil tribesmen of western Madhya Pradesh, who’ve retained many of their pre-Hindu customs, celebrate holi in a unique way. In rural Maharashtra State, where the festival is known as Rangapanchami it is celebrated with dancing and singing. In the towns of Rajasthan — especially Jaisalmer — the music’s great, and clouds of pink, green, and turquoise powder fill the air. The grounds of Jaisalmer’s Mandir Palace are turned into chaos, with dances, folk songs, and colored-powder confusion. In Hindi states of UP, MP and Bihar, though the festival is usually played with colours at some places, people also enjoy playing holi with mud. Folk songs are sung at high pitch and people dance to the tune of dholak and the spirit of Holi. Intoxicating bhang is consumed with a variety of mouth watering delicacies such as pakoras and thandai to enhance the mood of the festival.

A Bauddhika Kshatriya would uphold the convergent triumvirate of Indian nationalism, Indian religion and culture against this information and media onslaught.

Abstract

In the present scenario where people spend more time taking in media information than interacting with other people, media reports yield a tremendous influence on the readers’ mind down to a subconscious level. Media coverage today has an inordinate impact on the views of the populace in general and the administration in particular. 10000 people perishing in a famine in Sub-Saharan Africa might go unnoticed, but the killing of 10 Israelis is given wide coverage enough to impart a 180-degree turn to the foreign policy of the world’s sole superpower.

It is in this recognition of the new global arena that has spurred certain vested interest groups to pump in billions of dollars to PR firms, advertisement agencies and lobbyists in an attempt to garner public support for their actions. In this regard, Indians in general and Hindus in particular have lagged behind considerably. This paper aims and hopes to provide ‘motivation, guidance and perhaps the inspiration’ to young Indians to take up the cause of the country through the pen and become intellectual warriors or Bauddhika Kshatriya-s.

Dr David Frawley had first enunciated the concept of ‘Bauddhika Kshatriya’ in a classic article in the context of Hindu religion [1]. The present paper extends the idea to the convergent realm of Indian nationalism, Indian religion and Indian culture.

Introduction:

The modern era is, not without reason, called the Information Age [2]. The layman is inundated by reams of information. Perception rules over reality and packaging of the information often scores over contents. The ability of the educational system and media to mould public opinion is well recognized by the various pressure groups in the world. Both M K Gandhi [3] and M A Jinnah [4] utilized the power of the media to their maximum advantage. The media’s power is further reinforced in ‘trust and value driven’ Oriental societies where the media word is often accepted as the Biblical truth.

In neighboring Pakistan, the history books were tampered with (beginning in the Zia regime) to inculcate a feeling of hatred and animosity towards the Hindus [5]. The ideology of Pakistan was projected as an Islamic one and all history preceding the advent of Islam was erased [6]. In India, the Marxist historians planted false theories like the Aryan Invasion Myth [7] to divide the people on a regional and caste basis. The Mughal era atrocities were whitewashed [8] and every indigenous effort was denigrated. Our history books of the last 50 years were modified to inculcate a sense of self-deprecation amongst the Indian youth.

In the present context, the Hindu nationalists are attempting to rewrite history with two foremost objectives: [9]

a. Indians are made aware of their glorious past and made to feel proud of their splendid heritage. The confident Indian youth are then enthused and exhorted to take India to the pinnacle of glory that once belonged to it.

b. The mistakes committed by the Indians in the past are highlighted. An objective post-mortem examination of the same preempts committing the same mistake again in the future.

As David Frawley [1] points out, other cultures and traditions have realized the power of the media to influence public opinion. Islamic lobbies invest billions in United States to obscure the realities of their faith as exposed by their more radical co-religionists [10]. Another aspect of the combat in this new arena is its degeneration into a vicious disinformation program against adversaries or groups with conflicting ideologies. ‘In this contest whoever puts out information first usually gains credibility by defining the field. Whoever puts out information in the most sophisticated and high tech manner has the best audience in the long run and generally the best success in promoting their agenda.’ [1]

Even Pakistan and China have implemented several steps in this direction to project their influence and indulge in a blatant disinformation campaign against the Indians. Pakistanis control every South Asian think-tank in the United States [11]. The very idea of a South Asian entity is abhorrent to the author [12]. All the positive points about India get transferred to this South Asian bloc and in return we are saddled with the negative connotations arising from the nefarious activities of the Pakistanis and the Bangladeshis. While China projects the notion of Greater China [13] vigorously, the notion of Greater India [14] is vituperatively dismissed. The Indian elephant becomes the Asiatic elephant [15]. The Pakistani pseudo-scholars already address the Indian Ocean as the South Asian Ocean [16]. Articles on yoga [17] and meditation [18] in the US mainstream media no more mention India. The success of the Pakistani endeavor is seen in the fact that the US administration still treats India and Pakistan on an equal footing. [19]

Within India, the Resident Non-Indians [20] have done everything in their power to hamper national integration and destruct the unity and integrity of our country. Every group with the initials mentioning the words peace, justice and secularism [21] is controlled by the Marxists who have left no stone unturned to denigrate India and its people. The Marxists have displayed expert coordination in their activities complementing each other in every sense of the word. Lubricated and propelled ahead by mammon and fame, they collude in their diabolical schemes to push India to permanent ignominy and penury [22].

The Marxists’ subversion of our history books [23] and the resulting damage to India’s psyche is well documented. They control the English language press [24] and use it repeatedly to attack the Indian interests. The Goebbelsian Marxists through specious reasons projected the incontrovertible evidence of the Ayodhya temple as nebulous [25]. The Marxist intellectuals through another display of wizardly casuistry depicted the Narendra Modi government as anti-Muslim ignoring the fact his administration arrested (including preventive) more than 27900 Hindus as compared to less than 7700 Muslims [26].

It is the success of the untiring efforts of the Resident Non-Indians that the West views us through the stereotypes of ‘caste, dowry deaths, widow burning, strange cults, poverty and superstition’. [27]

Indian gods are insulted as phallic cults, Indian beliefs are dismissed as animist, Indian culture is denigrated as primitive, Indian values are condemned as anachronistic, Indian heritage is ignored as worthless, Indian people are looked down upon as penurious. If ever there was a need for an intellectual warrior to guard India’s consciousness, pride and national interests, it is now, it is now and it is now.

Who is a Bauddhika Kshatriya?

The venerable patriot-saint Sri Aurobindo defines a Bauddhika Kshatriya as follows: “”[Such a person] should be absolutely unsparing in our attack on whatever obstructs the growth of the nation, and never be afraid to call a spade a spade. Excessive good nature will never do … in serious politics.

Respect of persons must always give way to truth and conscience… What India needs especially at this moment is an aggressive virtue, the spirit of soaring idealism, bold creation, fearless resistance, courageous attack; of the passive tamasic inertia we already have too much.” [28]

Every culture, every religion and every nation has its intellectual warriors, who articulate its cherished values, present a favorable view of it, challenge negative outlooks, define its present and lay out a grand framework for its glorious future. A Bauddhika Kshatriya would dispassionately yet aggressively defend the Indian civilizational ethos without the fear of being named a communalist or a fundamentalist. A Bauddhika Kshatriya would rise like a sun dispelling the false notions circulating about India and defend her incomparable pluralistic traditions from the onslaught of exclusivist creeds in the economic, political and religious realm. [29]

India’s unique heritage

To define the code of conduct of such a Bauddhika Kshatriya, it is essential to understand the unique nature of India’s heritage. A French Catholic has three aspects to his identity: his nationality comes from France, his religion comes from Italy and his culture comes from Greece. For an Indian religionist in India, the nationality comes from India, the religion also comes from India and the culture also comes from India. It is this understanding of the convergent nature of Indian Nationalism, Indian Religion and Indian Culture that a Bauddhika Kshatriya would seek to promote.

Today this unique tradition bequeathed to us by our illustrious forefathers is under threat on all the three fronts. Indian nationalism is denunciated and labeled jingoism. Even today Ambedkarites point to the fact that Ambedkar opposed the freedom struggle and proudly acclaim their great leader of being a ‘true internationalist’ instead of being a narrow minded nationalist like Sardar Vallabhai Patel [30]. NGOs assisting poor tribals in India are attacked and accused of funding hate campaigns [31]. Attempts are made to ruin the cracker industry by accusing it of child labor even if it had been removed from the scene [32]. Certain Marxist intellectuals even exhorted industrialists to restrain themselves from investing in Gujarat [33]. Recently a ‘secular Indian’ English daily gleefully reported that Indians would not support their country blindly [34]. Another ‘secular Indian’ daily labeled Vajpayee’s pledge to recover PoK as populist and criticized ‘wanton exoneration of the army’ [35].

Editors of 2 ‘secular Indian’ English newspapers held a press conference in Islamabad and demonized the Delhi government as bellicose. [36] A ‘secular Indian’ author recently opposed the Indian claim to obtain a permanent seat at the United Nations [37]. Another ‘secular Indian’ author accused Vajpayee of displaying ‘typical Brahminical deviousness’ [38].

Indian religion is also under severe attack. Demographic studies have underlined the rapid decline in the number of Indian Religionists. [39] The percentage of the Indian Religionists in the subcontinent has decreased from about 89% in the 1870s to less than 69% currently. [40] India now has the world’s largest number of Christian missionaries [41] who haven’t hesitated to employ any overt or covert means in their efforts to convert this land into a Christian colony [42]. To add to the misery of the Indians, the government legally takes away the temple revenues and redistributes the money amongst the churches and the madrassas [43]. This has led to the complete collapse of several temples and the resultant spiritual vacuum is being exploited by vested interests [44]. 600,000 Hindus were thrown out from Kashmir, which is the land of Kashyapa, and still no one complains of genocide or a pogrom [45]. In contrast the death of 700 Muslims in a state having 5 million Muslims was highlighted for days in the ‘secular Indian’ media [46]. The government has failed to realize the importance of the unique socio-religio-political glue that Hinduism employs to hold India together as a single nation.

Indian culture is lampooned by the ‘secular Indian’ media. Our national song is declared ‘communal’ and rejected [47]. Our invocation for education like the Saraswati Vandana is mocked at [48]. Our goddesses, whom we revere, are depicted in the nude to insult our sensibilities [49]. Indologists publish books with offensive language on our gods [50]. Our indigenous customs are satirized and the people are reprimanded for continuing them. The United Nations recently pointed out that the tradition of Vedic chanting is on its way to extinction in this country within the coming 30 years [51]. Our youngsters are taught the Bible before they even hear of the Gita and the Upanishads [52]. Indigenous art, sculpture, music, literature and dance are all on their way to extermination within the next 25 years [53].

Code of Conduct of a Bauddhika Kshatriya

A Bauddhika Kshatriya would base his/her conduct on the great Intellectual Warriors of the past like Adi Sankara [54], Guru Gobind Singh [55], Swami Vivekananda [56] and Sri Aurobindo [57]. A Bauddhika Kshatriya would assemble a team of dedicated workers to uphold the convergent triumvirate of Indian nationalism, Indian religion and Indian culture against this information and media onslaught. ‘Such individuals must be above commercial manipulation and self-promotion, working tirelessly to counter this disinformation flood.’ [1]

A Bauddhika Kshatriya shall be adept in the ancient Indian technique of tarka or intellectual debate [58]. The individual must be a perfect combination of Brahma (spiritual power) and Kshatra (political power). The Bauddhika Kshatriya would project an articulate and compelling intellectual view that would bring back the alienated western educated Indian elite to its eternal roots. As Frawley suggests, “A true Kshatriya is devoted to Dharma and cannot be won over by name, fame, influence or money. He is not seeking office, to create a vote bank, or to gain followers, but to uphold Dharma without compromise or inflexibility.” [1]

Swami Vivekananda had recognized the idealism in the youth and channelised that towards the advancement of our nation. [59] Swami Vivekananda in the east, Savarkar [60] and Tilak [61] in the west and Sri Aurobindo [62] all combined religion with patriotism in gallant attempts to turn Sanatana Dharma into a world cultural force through which a notion of Greater India could be projected.

The modern Bauddhika Kshatriya would embed the solutions of modern contemporary issues in a traditional mould and propel the inhabitants of this great nation toward materialistic progress coupled with spiritual fulfillment. The Bauddhika Kshatriya would think, act and influence others.

The Bauddhika Kshatriya shall not escape the realities of modern mundane life. He/she would transcend it with clear visionary thinking. The Bauddhika Kshatriya would be dispassionate, calm and still argue with the precision of a missile. The Bauddhika Kshatriya would not fear or complain about adverse circumstances; he/she would take the fight to the enemy camp, set the agenda and be proactive in all circumstances. The Bauddhika Kshatriya shall be revolutionary in outlook and would correct historical wrongs committed by the people.

As Frawley states, “The new intellectual Kshatriya must throw up an ethical
challenge, which is the challenge of Dharma, exposing the danger of exclusivist
religious cults, materialistic political philosophies, and unchecked
commercialism. The West throws its ethical challenge to the world, criticizing
other countries, including India, for lack of human rights. This requires a
Hindu response, which is to expose the West’s promotion of arms sales,
environmental depredation, and projection of sensate materialism all over the
world.” [1] The Bauddhika Kshatriya would establish an alternate to the current
western models of science, religion and politics.

The Bauddhika Kshatriya would objectively analyze and explain unanswered
questions like why Hindu-majority areas like Lahore, Sylhet and Chittagong were
given away to Pakistan by Nehru [63]. The Bauddhika Kshatriya would be the
messiah of Indians everywhere on Earth [64]. The Bauddhika Kshatriya would
assist the Indians in Fiji [65], aid the Indians in Malaysia [66], enthuse the
Indians in Africa [67] and inspire the Indians in the Americas [68]. The
Bauddhika Kshatriya would emancipate the hungry millions of the land, yet making
the ideal tradeoff in the guns versus butter choice. The Bauddhika Kshatriya
would establish Ram Rajya in this country and demolish the ant-Hindu communist
conspirators mouthing socialist shibboleths in the universities [69].

Challenges before the Bauddhika Kshatriya (10 m)

A Bauddhika Kshatriya would combat the following sections of the Indian nation.[70]

Mullah: This refers to the Sunni Muslim [71] elite, which insists on a separate identity than their Indian one. The present government spends more than 190 crores on the Haj travel in an action devoid of any economic benefit [72].The imam of a certain mosque refused to pray for the soldiers at Kargil as they were combating a Muslim Pakistan [73]. The Moplah rebellion [74] and activities of SIMI [75] also fall in to this category.

Missionary: This refers to the Christian missionaries who openly attack Hinduism [76]. In spite of Gandhiji openly criticizing conversion [77], the activities of the missionaries have continued unabated [78]. Using deception [79], violence [80], disguise under cloak of school [81] and hospital [82] the missionaries have contributed directly to the present chaos in the Northeast [83] and the tribal hinterlands of MP and Orissa [84].

Minorityist: This refers to the so called secularists dominating our landscape today [85]. The National Human Rights Commission displayed this by raking up the Best Bakery Case while turning a Nelson’s eye to the Jogeshwari case where the accused Muslims were acquitted for want of evidence [86]. The Election Commission of India displayed this by postponing elections in Gujarat, while holding it in the much more disturbed Jammu and Kashmir [87].

Marxist: This refers to the extreme Chinese nationalists [88] born as Indians merely by ‘accident of birth’ [89]. They successfully transformed Calcutta from a gem to a dowager of a city within 25 years of misrule [90]. They further have left no stone unturned in any anti-national activity in the country [91].

Mandalist: This category brought the Indian public sector to its ultimate downfall by implementing time bound promotions for certain Superior Castes/Scientific Tribes also known as SC/STs [92]. They destroyed meritocracy and established anti-Brahminism as the fundamental philosophy of political life [93].

Mayoist: This refers to the progeny of Catherine Mayo [94], whom Gandhi described as ‘a drain inspector’ [95]. This category believes that everything good in India came from outside and everything bad is purely indigenous. They constitute most of our Page 3 socialites.

Maoist: This refers to the Naxalites [96] and their fellow journeymen who believe in a nation-less world. Their imprudent action has only served to accentuate poverty in regions they afflict [97].

Macaulayite: This refers to the Convent-educated elite marinated for years in Nehruvian socialism. They have inculcated several characteristics from the above listed categories. Their legendary activities make them more Christian than the Christians themselves [98].

Me, Mine, Myself: This category has never bothered itself with any development till they are directly impacted by it. But often it is too late for them to react when it actually comes to them [99].

Media: This M-factor is controlled by the above 9 Ms. This so called secular device has done untold damage to the Indian nationalistic feelings, religious traditions and cultural values [100].

Conclusion

The modern era is characterized by several radical developments like the deluge
of information for which there appears to be no precedent in history. This
provides both an opportunity [101] and a risk factor to the emergence of India
as a great global power [102]. The enemies of the nation have mounted an
unprecedented attack on it. Any attempt to benefit India in the remotest way is
criticized openly [103] or ‘stifled with silence’ [104]. As the soul of India
wrenches in misery at the myriad knots the so called secularists weave, the
weave nation as a whole awaits the emergence of a new Swami Vivekananda to lead
it through these turbulent times. The hour of reckoning of the youth of the
country has come. Are the youth of India ready for this challenge? The Mother is
waiting…

The US Supreme Court in a landmark judgement pronounced that while the American
state is secular, the American country is Christian [105].

Is there one person in this vast nation of one billion where more than half of
the population is below the age of 25 who could make a similar statement that
while the Indian state is secular, the Indian nation is Hindu?

Is there one person in this vast nation of one billion where more than half of

Sakal jagat mein Khalsa Panth gaajey, Jagey dharm Hindu sakal bhand Bhajey”

(May I preach the Vedas to the whole mankind / May I remove the blot of
cow-slaughter from the whole world / May the Khalsa Panth reign supreme / Long
above all provincial, parochial and regional interests?

people of this country to his cause. See ‘Mahatma Gandhi and Mass Media’ by Prof
V S Gupta at

4. Mohammed Ali Jinnah founded the Dawn newspaper (www.dawn.com) and used it
effectively to convince the Muslim elite throughout the country to vote for a
separate Muslim entity. Later more than half of those who voted for Pakistan
were asked to stay back in India.

5. This fact is well documented in the report titled ‘The Subtle Subversion: A
report on Curricula and Textbooks in Pakistan’ prepared by A H Nayyar and Ahmed
Salim. The document is available at

11. The centers of South Asian studies in every major university in US are
filled with India-baiters who are either Pakistani or Marxist. These groups
regularly hold meetings on Kashmir where they gleefully and unanimously berate
India on various counts of human rights violations.

12. Rajiv Malhotra addresses this issue in this Rediff article at

14. In contrast, no attempt is made by the media to show the great cultural
impact of India on neighboring nations like Myanmar, Cambodia and Indonesia.
E.g. Indonesia still retains Sanskrit names, Cambodia has the world’s largest
Hindu temple.

15. In this article, the author mentions Indian only in the first name and then
goes on using a defunct term like ‘Asiatic Elephant’.

19. The fact that Musharraf holds many more press meetings has been described
earlier also. Kaushik Kapisthalam in an article titled ‘Analysing South Asian
Srinivasan in his Rediff article titled ‘Patriot Games and Resident Non-Indians’
at
http://www.rediff.com/news/2003/may/22rajeev.htm

21. A simple google search for the phrase ‘Centers for Peace, Justice and
Secularism’ would validate this fact. This is an alarming trend that must be
tackled by the nationalists. The anti-Indian forces cannot be allowed to
permanently hijack those words.

22. It is an ironical fact the very fellows claiming to be fighting poverty
manage to increase it. A certain pseudo-secular party in India continues to get
votes in the name of ‘Garibi hatao’ while doing its best in retaining it in the
country.

23. The Marxist historians (thoroughly exposed in Arun Shourie’s Eminent
Historians) perpetuated several myths that have now been exposed. At

24. The absolute control of the English media by a small section of
anti-nationals would probably be the subject of a research study in the future.
The disease, thankfully, has not spread to the vernacular media that still
retains its objectivity in contents and reporting.

25. It is a wonder that in spite of monumental evidence supporting the Hindus,
the pseudo-secularists managed to keep the issue burning. Posterity would
definitely record the Ayodhya dispute as the greatest example of the success of
the Mephistophelean Goebbels technique. For an introduction to the issue, look

26. Prof Ramesh Rao provided an interesting analysis of the Gujarat situation in
a report titled ‘Genocide in Gujarat or Massacring of truth’ in an email
circulated in the RRCC Experts Forum e-group.

27. This penurious image of India also enabled fraudulent organizations like the
Missionaries of Charity to gather money for conversion activities. Several
independent scholars like Christopher Hitchens, Aroup Chatterjee, and MS
titled ‘Defaming as a profession, to doing down businesses and communities’

33. This is a double-crossed game the Marxists play. On one hand, they exhort
the industrialists to restraint themselves from investing in Gujarat and on the
other hand, they write articles in the media attributing the lack of investment
in Gujarat to the Hindutva government there. Unfortunately for the Marxists and
fortunately for India, the investments simply boomed under the administration of
Narendra Modi.

It is titled ‘Permanent Membership not for India’. The article demonstrates the

38. In a shocking display of decline in journalistic standards, Deccan Chronicle
columnist Seema Mustafa writes thus at

I did not speak out. Then they came for the Jews, but I was not a Jew, so I did
how the media on failing to refute Sita Ram Goel intellectually simply blocked
any report on him. The media did the same to all Arun Shourie’s books. When they
fail to find a fault with a report going against them, they do not change
themselves. Instead they condemn the report to ignominy.105.

This case must become an example not to be forgotten for years to come, of how justice is meted out without remorse to those who sully the dignity of a woman, any woman and bring slight to the profession of arms and national esteem.

Our society is getting into gutters as we jettison all norms of civilised human behaviour for lust of money, greed and unfettered libertine lifestyle the downfall of any people. Media is awash with morbid incidents on a daily basis ranging from dehumanising cannibalism, murders, rape , etc hallmarks of a society run amock, anarchy and we mere mute bystanders. The last bastion of order and discipline was the armed forces. This is no longer so which is greater cause of alarm and disgust. Thanks to our political masters in driving seats the military is a broken institution now with every pillar of its integrity and character demolished the sole attributes which make the military invulnerable and bastion of national pride and security.

Incidents of corruption and direlection of duty have reached climactic proportions. To add to this there are increasing number of cases of molestation of women officers by senior ranks a devastating predilection indicating a collapse in moral fibre of officer class the bulwark of leadership in war. There have been a number of cases. In one the lady officer committed suicide in Jammu and the inquiry is still not made public. Here is yet another case of a lady captain being molested by a senior officer.

This must stop and there aught to be a public backlash of the severest order by the public. We don’t know whether this would happen. But as League we would like to touch your sensitivity as we have a duty here both citizen as also Kshattriya responsibility. Here is yet another rallying point to get our message through. The Jodha message at least showed to all that Rajput is not all dead and lame duck. While we resurrect the past, the present must be saved to consolidate the future.

Let us show our wrath by addressing faxes, telegrams, etc. individually, collectively to the Raksha Mantri and the Chief of Army Staff that without being community focused conveying that this case must become an example not to be forgotten for years to come, of how justice is meted out without remorse to those who sully the dignity of a woman, any woman and bring slight to the profession of arms and national esteem. How such indiscipline is eroding the fighting capability of the armed forces and breeding discontent and disgust? The erring General officer must be stripped of his uniform, dismissed without pension. Care must be taken that no harm comes to this brave girl who has been apparently bold to stand up where most tend to give in under pressure and for greed. If this is not heeded then due retribution will be drawn by the people.

Our message can be in any language :

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) : 011- 23015847

Strike now !!

They fought on the front line very bravely in a long list of conflicts - they then retired from the Army and they are told they are not allowed to stay in this country.

Gurkhas, praised the world over as the ‘bravest of the brave’, are gathering outside the British parliament on Wednesday to demand the right to stay in Britain and be paid army pensions at par with other British soldiers.

Thousands of retired Gurkhas, who have fought for Britain in Afghanistan, Iraq and the Falklands, as well as guarding the protectorate of Hong Kong before its independence, began their protest in central London to highlight what they call their unfair treatment by the British Army.

Under British laws, Gurkhas who retired after 1997 can automatically stay in Britain but those who retired earlier must either leave Britain or apply to stay.

About 50 Gurkhas, dressed in regimental ties and their distinctive khaki hats, handed over their medals outside parliament to call for their monthly pension of some 131 pounds (260 dollars, 166 euros) to be substantially raised.

That compares with pensions of about 1,000 pounds for regular British troops.

The British government increased the pension last year by 19 percent to its current level, but the Gurkhas say the improved amount is insufficient to live on even in their native Nepal.

Arkumar Gurung, 42, who saw duty in the invasion of Iraq in 2003 during a 19-year career, said: “Our pension is an insult, a disgrace. I was proud to be a British soldier but our British colleagues who retire get so much more than us for doing the same service. I gave half my active life for Britain. We deserve more.”

Martial history

Gurkhas claim descent from the Hindu Rajputs of Northern India, who entered modern Nepal from the west. Guru Gorkhanath had a Rajput Prince-disciple, the legendary Bappa Rawal, born Prince Kalbhoj/Prince Shailadhish, founder of the Royal house of Mewar, who became the first Gurkha(Gorkha) and is said to be the ancestor of the present Royal family of Nepal.

The motto of the Gurkha is: “Better to die than be a coward”

More than 200,000 Gurkhas have fought for Britain around the world. Thirteen have been awarded the Victoria Cross

About 43,000 Gurkhas died fighting in the two world wars

The first Gurkhas were recruited into the British Army in 1815 after the Victorians identified them as a “martial race”, naturally warlike and aggressive. Gurkhas still carry into battle a traditional 18in curved knife, or khukri

About 28,000 Nepalese youths enter the notoriously tough Gurkha selection process every year to compete for just over 200 places

Around 3,500 Gurkhas currently serve in the British army. They are now based at Shorncliffe near Folkestone, Kent.

Support : Online Petition

We appeal everybody to support Gurkhas by signing an online petition posted on Mr. Brown’s Downing Street website. It can be signed at
